Council Meeting - Special

President Michael Birkner called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM with the following Councilors present: Vice President Jacob Schindel, Mr. John Butterfield, Mr. Graham Weaver, Ms. Rebecca Brown, Mr. Robert Krummerich, Mr. Kyle Leinbach and Mr. .Scot Pitzer. Mrs. Susan Naugle was absent. 

Others present included: Jim Hale representing the Gettysburg Times. 

President Birkner announced the meeting was scheduled to appoint a Borough Manager. 

There was no public comment. 

Moved Mr. Butterfield, seconded Mr. Schindel to appoint Charles R. Gable as Borough Manager and Borough Treasurer and set bond at $100,000, Borough to pay the premium effective May·5, 2014. YEA: Mr. Birkner, Mr. Schindel, Mr. Butterfield, Mr. Weaver and Ms. Brown. The vote passed 5-3 with Mr. Pitzer, Mr. Krummerich and Mr. Leinbach abstaining. 

During the discussion Mr. Pitzer, Mr. Krummerich and Mr. Leinbach stated that they would abstain since they had not been present to interview the candidate, 

President Birkner asked for other council business. Mr. Butterfield announced an invitation only Meet & Greet honoring Mr. Gable on May 5 between the hours of 4-6:00 PM at the Blue Parrot. 

Mr. Pitzer stated that he had not been notified of the meeting until told by a reporter. Mr. Butterfield said that a public notice had been placed in the newspaper and an e-mail had been sent to all of Council. 

There being no more business, the motion to adjourn was made by Mr. Krummerich and seconded by Mr. Butterfield. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 PM.
