John Whitmore, AICP

Background

John started the Borough's staff on January 2, 2023. Prior to his appointment as the Director of Planning, Zoning and Code Enforcement, John worked for over ten years in the state of West Virginia as the City Planner for the City of Parkersburg, WV, a Senior Planner and Interim Director of Development Services with the City of Morgantown, WV, and the Director of Economic Development for the City of Clarksburg, WV.

Education and Professional Service

John holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public and Urban Affairs, and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Tech. John also holds Graduate Certificates in Economic Development, Metropolitan Studies, and Non-profit and Nongovernmental Organization Management from Virginia Tech.

John is a member of the American Planning Association and is certified as an American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). John was active in the reestablishment of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association and is an advocate for local urban planning related educational and professional development activities.
