Council Meeting - Public Hearing

President John Butterfield called the meeting to order at 6:45 PM with the following Councilors present: Mr. Michael Birkner, Mrs. Susan Naugle, Mrs. Claire Lewis, Mr. Graham Weaver, Mr. Jacob Schindel, Ms. Rebecca Brown, and Mr. Charles Teague. Mr. Kyle Leinbach was absent. Staff present included Mayor William Troxell, Solicitor Harold Eastman, Manager Florence Ford, Borough Secretary Sara Stull, Chief Joseph Dougherty, Finance Director Ramona Overton, Planning Director Scott Dellett and Public Works Director Dan Hilliard.

Others present included: Anne Thomas, Adams County Planning; Darlene Brown, ACHA/PICPI; Judie Butterfield, 999 Sunset Avenue and Kathy Gilbert, 39 South Street. 

Representing the press were Mark Walters of the Gettysburg Times, and Tim Prudente representing the Evening Sun

Mr. Butterfield announced the public hearing is to hear comments on the 2012 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) allocation. At this time he turned the meeting over to Planning Director Scott Dellett.

Mr. Dellett reported the state Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) informed the Borough that the amount would be $107,043.00. This is a 14.25% decrease from the 2011 allocation. Mr. Dellett recommended the 2012 CDBG allocations as follows: $105,000.00-Americans with Disabilities Act Sidewalk and Intersection Compliance; and $2,043.00- for administration.

Mr. Dellett asked Council to authorize the submission of an application for CDBG funds to DCED. The deadline for the submission is May 25, 2012. The resolution will be on the May 14th Council agenda for approval.

The Public Hearing was closed ad 6:53 pm.
