Winter Storm Jonas (Janaury 24, 2016)

Press Release

Snow Emergency Extended Until NOON, Tuesday, January 26, 2016

The snow emergency declaration has been extended until NOON on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. Parking along snow emergency routes remains prohibited until the snow emergency is lifted.

Public Works crews have been working around the clock since 6 PM Friday night. Most roads in the Borough of Gettysburg are now passable. However, large piles of snow remain along roadsides. On-street parking will be problematic for some time.

Racehorse Alley Parking Garage will remain open and free of charge until the snow emergency is lifted. Additional off-street parking is available at the Rec Park until the snow emergency expires. All residents on routes not designated as snow emergency routes are encouraged to move their vehicles to one of these free lots so that snow can be removed.

Alleys remain a challenge as many are still snow covered, impassable and closed. The Borough has secured additional equipment and is making every effort to have alleys open and passable by Monday night.

Patience and understanding from residents and property owners is needed during this clean-up period.
