MAIN STREET GETTYSBURG RECEIVES $20,000 FOR CHALLENGE GRANT
FOR GETTYSBURG WELCOME CENTER PROJECT

Gettysburg, PA (November 1, 2023) – Main Street Gettysburg is honored to receive $20,000 from the Adams County Community Foundation for matching the Challenge Grant.

Main Street Gettysburg successfully raised $20,000 in new donations to support the Gettysburg Welcome Center Project thereby meeting the Adams County Community Foundation Challenge Grant requirement. By achieving this fundraising total, Adams County Community Foundation awarded the project an additional $20,000.

“Main Street Gettysburg is incredibly grateful to our generous community for helping us meet this challenge,” said Main Street Gettysburg President Jill Sellers. “The Gettysburg Welcome Center Project will benefit our business community as it will create accessibility and walkability of our downtown district. Donors included ACNB Insurance, Lark Gifts, Gettysburg Goods, Ragged Edge, Dobbin House, and many other individuals who generously invested in this project and the future of our community.”

Gettysburg Welcome Center is a $1.5 million public facility project, which will create greater accessibility and walkability throughout the historic district. The project is in the center of downtown and will provide tourism, transportation, and event information, as well as public restrooms. Plans include new ADA-compliant facilities and will also be a place for information and directions – for tourism, local events, transportation, volunteer opportunities, and more. The building site at 340 Baltimore Street was generously donated to the Borough for this purpose.

To donate toward the Gettysburg Welcome Center, donations can be made to Main Street Gettysburg #65 at the Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree on November 9, 2023 in person at the Gettysburg Area Middle School from 3:00-7:00 p.m., or online at www.accfgivingspree.org.
