Help Us Revise the Sidewalk Ordinance

Planning Commission Requests Input on Sidewalk Ordinance Revisions
Borough of Gettysburg Seal

What are your thoughts on sidewalks?

The Borough of Gettysburg Planning Commission has started a review of our Sidewalk Ordinance and we would like to hear from our residents, property owners and general sidewalk users.  How can our sidewalks be improved? We're particularly interested in public comment regarding dimensional standards and other requirements outlined in the ordinance. While identifying areas in town with sidewalk safety concerns and/or poor physical condition is always a consideration, the Planning Commission asks that public comment be specific to improving the ordinance that governs sidewalk construction and use. (Please report safety concerns directly to Code Enforcement.)

You can find the current ordinance here: Chapter 21, Streets and Sidewalks
