Electronic Devices Recycling Event

Waste Connections, Inc. and the Borough of Gettysburg will be offering a TV & COMPUTER DROP-OFF RECYCLING EVENT on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Borough Public Works Building, 457 East Middle Street, Gettysburg.

Accepted for recycling will be all “Covered Devices” as defined by Pennsylvania.  Permitted items include TVs, CPU/Tower, laptops and tablets, LCD/flatscreen TV/monitor, TV remote, keyboard, mouse, personal-sized Hard Drive/Printer/Scanner/Router/Modem/Server, wires, cables, small circuit boards, CDs, disks, UPS, joystick, etc. Microwave ovens will also be accepted for appropriate disposal. Check the borough’s website for a complete list of accepted items.

There is no charge for this service, but pre-registration is required to receive a time assignment. Registration may be done on line at www.gettysburgpa.gov/recycle  or by calling 717-337-0724 week days between 9AM and 5PM. Participants are encouraged to complete registration as soon as possible, as there is a deadline after which a waiting list will be offered. Registration deadline is Thursday March 19, 2020.

This popular event is one of quarterly “covered device” drop-off opportunities as stipulated by the Borough’s 2018 Trash Hauling Contract with Waste Connections, Inc.  In 2019, 2.78 tons of electronic devices were collected for recycling locally. The next event will be on June 20. Since it is a contracted event for Gettysburg Borough residents only, proof of residency may be required. It will be a drive-through event with runners available to remove devices from customers’ vehicles.
