Historic Architectural Review Board
 Special Meeting Minutes
July 7, 2008

In a continuation of the June 18, 2008 review of an application for 74 E. Water Street, Chairman Gary Shaffer called the Historical Architectural Review Board to order at

7:35 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2008. The meeting was held onsite at 74 E. Water Street. Those in attendance were: Board members Elwood Christ, Nancie Gudmestad and Rich Clark and Merry Bush, Borough Planner. Peggy Gustafson was absent. A quorum was present. Others attending the meeting were Debra Keller and Joe McDermott.

Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness

A. Alteration. Dormer. 74 E. Water Street. Debra S. Keller, owner.

The applicant submitted an amended application requesting a reduction in the width of the proposed dormers from five feet to four; reduction in the overhang from nine inches to six and replicating the existing design; the window will be three-foot square; the sides of the dormers will be sided with a gray Dutch lap vinyl siding; the front of the dormers will be faced with wood. The applicant has decided to replace all the windows with a wood Prairie-style window.

Findings of Fact: The house at 74 E. Stevens Street has a mixed degree of integrity with the front porch having been removed and a half-porch reconstructed. The materials used were not consistent with any style. Nancie Gudmestad moved to approve the amended application as submitted. Rich Clark seconded the motion. The motion carried 4 to 0.

When it comes time to replace the front bay window, the applicant asked what should be installed in its place. Gary Shaffer said that it should be replaced with three double-hung windows placed side-by-side.

The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Merry V. Bush
Borough Planner and Recorder
