UPMC

We are expanding our COVID-19 testing locations. To better serve the Hanover community, we will be doing pre-admission testing that will include a COVID-19 test site at UPMC Hanover. An outpatient location for symptomatic patients will also be opening in Hanover in May. At this time, our sites are not open to the public, and walk-in patients will not be tested. If testing is sought, the patient must be evaluated by their care provider, who then must assess the need and contact the UPMC Pinnacle infection prevention team.

UPMC announced that the system is developing antibody testing capabilities to offer to our patients, as well as frontline health care workers. Watch the COVID-19 Test Q&A with Dr. Alan Wells for answers to frequently asked questions about antibodies, the tests used to detect them and why these tests are important during the COVID-19 pandemic. Visit www.UPMC.com/Media to watch the full press conference.

Volunteers & Help in District 33

Thank you to each of you that have reached out to help during this time to deliver groceries, prescriptions and supplies to those who are not able to go out.  Please continue to let me know, via my email address or phone number listed below, under the conclusion article, if you can help.

Points of Light

Every Friday, Hollabaugh Brothers in Biglerville treats their staff to lunch by buying from a local “mom and pop” restaurant.  They also have added a “curbside” tip line on their on-line form.  This money is used to buy food for our limited staff who remain willing to work through this pandemic AND we are collecting for John’s Meals – an Upper Adams School District initiative to help feed the food insecure.  To date, we have collected over $700 to send to John’s Meals, and we are still collecting!  Kay Hollabaugh reports our customers are FANTASTIC!

The Gettysburg Rotary Club of Gettysburg donated $15,000 to SCCAP (South Central Community Action Program) to  help stock its food pantries in Gettysburg, York Springs, New Oxford, East Berlin, and Fairfield. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, SCCAP has been serving 1,152 people each week.

Homeless Matters purchased and delivered essential groceries to Franklin County Housing Authority in conjunction with their monthly fresh food distribution. Thank you to Grocery Oulet and Jake Fulton for selecting and packaging food for pick up. Many community elderly residents will benefit from the donations.

Conclusion

We are in this together.  Please look for opportunities to safely help others!  We are Pennsylvania. This is our time… we will, by God's grace, get through this together.

If I can be of service, please email senatordoug@pasen.gov or call 717-787-4651.
