MAIN STREET GETTYSBURG RECEIVES GRANT FOR WELCOME CENTER FROM NATURE ALLIANCE & HERITAGE CENTER

(Gettysburg, Pa., October 31, 2022) – Main Street Gettysburg is pleased to announce a major donation for its Gettysburg Welcome Center Project from the Gettysburg Nature Alliance, which operates the Gettysburg Heritage Center.

The Nature Alliance this week provided a generous donation of $25,000 to Main Street Gettysburg for the Gettysburg Welcome Center, a $1.4 million public-facility project in historic downtown, which will provide visitor information, public restrooms and more.

The centrally located project will create greater accessibility and walkability throughout the historic district. Plans include new ADA-compliant facilities, and the center will be a place for information and directions – for tourism, local events, transportation, volunteer opportunities, and more. The building site at 340 Baltimore Street was generously donated to the Borough for this purpose.

Main Street Gettysburg will apply the $25,000 grant as matching funds to alleviate the burden on borough taxpayers. The Nature Alliance’s generosity brings the total funds raised this year to $87,000 for the Gettysburg Welcome Center.

“Gettysburg desperately needs an information outlet and public restrooms downtown. The Nature Alliance’s donation has created serious momentum, and we are so excited about the growing interest in this project,” said Main Street President Jill Sellers.

“We are proud to be part of such a vibrant community of residents and visitors,” said Dru Anne Neil, Gettysburg Nature Alliance president. “We believe the Welcome Center project will enhance resident and visitor experiences and will provide much-needed information and convenience in the heart of historic downtown.”

To support Main Street Gettysburg, donations can be made through the Adams County Giving Spree on November 3rd. Main Street Gettysburg is #58.
