Gettysburg Welcome Center Campaign Kick-Off
Gettysburg, Pa. (Sep. 9, 2021) — Main Street Gettysburg is pleased to announce a capital campaign to secure $500,000 in grant match funds to build the proposed Gettysburg Welcome Center on Baltimore Street.
The center will be located at 340 Baltimore Street – a prime, central location for much-needed public amenities downtown, which will benefit locals, businesses, and visitors. The project will provide accessible, ADA-compliant restrooms, community meeting room, as well as transportation, visitor, and event information. The design will balance the need for a modern facility with the aesthetics of our historic district.
The site itself 
was generously donated to the Borough, so there are no land costs for the project. Construction is estimated at $1.5 million. “We are excited to partner with the Borough and help move this project forward,” said Jill Sellers, Main Street Gettysburg’s President and CEO.
“We are excited to kick off the grant match effort by encouraging people to donate on November 5th through the Giving Spree,” Sellers announced.
Main Street Gettysburg is honored to participate in the Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree again this year. Donors can give to over 90 local non-profit organizations through the annual Giving Spree. Donations are also increased by a portion of the Stretch Pool created by these Sponsors: J. William Warehime Foundation Fund, Thomas E. & Florence B. Metz Fund, Sharon C. Magraw, and Knouse Foods Fund.
Through volunteer support, Main Street Gettysburg will also host a series of open house events when people can visit the current space and see the proposed design ideas. Those dates are October 1st, 8th, 19th (alternate 20th), 22nd, and 30th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.
