Waste Connections, Inc. and the Borough of Gettysburg will be offering the second TV & COMPUTER DROP-OFF RECYCLING EVENT on Saturday, June 16, 2018 between 10 AM and noon at the Borough Public Works Building, 457 East Middle Street, Gettysburg.

Accepted will be all “Covered Devices” as defined by Act 101 – the Pennsylvania Waste Reduction & Recycling Act. Permitted items, free of charge, include TVs, CPU/Tower, laptops and tablets, LCD/flat screen TV/monitor, TV remote, keyboard, mouse, personal-sized Hard Drive/Printer/Scanner/Router/Modem/Server, wires, cables, small circuit boards, CDs, disks, UPS, joystick, microwave ovens, cells, etc. Check the borough’s website for a complete list of accepted items.

Advanced registration is required and may be done on line at www.GettysburgPA.gov/recycling week days between 9AM and 5PM. Participants are encouraged to complete registration as soon as possible, as there is a deadline after which a waiting list will be offered. Registration deadline is Thursday June 14, 2018.

This event is the second of four “covered device” drop-off opportunities as stipulated by the Borough’s 2018 Trash Hauling Contract with Waste Connections, Inc. (formerly IESI). The third event will be on September 15, 2018. Since it is a contracted event for Gettysburg Borough residents only, proof of residency may be required. It will be a drive-through event with runners available to remove devices from customers’ vehicles. The Covered Device Recycling Act of 2013, states electronics can no longer be put in curbside trash - they must be recycled. This event ensures the law will be followed as Waste Connections will recycle devices collected at no charge.
