by providing opportunities for education and awareness of LGBTQ+ and Allies.

Gettysburg Pride is family friendly and inviting love of ALL!
You are loved here. You are welcome here. Be proud of who you are!

In summer of 2017, when a few friends were sitting around wondering why Gettysburg didn't have a Gay Pride Event yet, they decided to organize a bar crawl...in less than two weeks of course. They thought maybe a dozen people would show up.

On June 22, 2017, over 80 people filled the bar at Gettysburg Hotel's One Lincoln. Pride flags, glow in the dark necklaces, and LOTS of smiles with friends old and new filled each bar as we walked around historic Lincoln Square with PRIDE. Bars welcomed us and some staff members even wore Pride shirts just for us that night. It was wonderful to see so many of our LGBT+ and straight allies come together for what is now known as the annual Gettysburg Pride.

In 2018, even more people showed up and we had a full weekend of events of all kinds including: bar crawl, education/outreach and free rapid HIV testing and counseling, shopping discounts, NYC style piano bar cabaret and more. Many businesses in town sponsored Gettysburg Pride and covered downtown in pride flags.

In 2019, not only did we do all of the above, but we also added the first ever PRIDE MARCH on Lincoln Square. It was incredible and we stopped counting at 400. That is not bad at all for a small town with a population of less than 8000 residents and for only the 3rd year of Pride. Oh, did we mention that HBO came and filmed here the following month for their new docu-series titled "We're Here!" starring Shangela, Eureka, and Bob the Drag Queen? It was epic to have them in our town where they not only filmed on Lincoln Square, and many other location in downtown, but they also performed a fantastic drag show in a barn for us!

OH NO 2020!
Like everyone, we had so much planned for 2020, but then the pandemic made us cancel lots and do whatever we could do virtually. We did however host a virtual pride day with incredible educational sessions in LGBTQ awareness, health of mind, body, and spirit, as well as drag performer entertainers, AND HBO's Award-Winning Series "We're Here" originated right here in Gettysburg, premiered in 2020, has received many awards, and is now filming Season 2.
But probably most important for the Gettysburg Pride community is the fact that the Gettysburg Borough Council voted UNANIMOUSLY on the bi-partisan created Non-Discrimination Ordinance that helps protect everyone in our town against discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression with regards to employment, housing, and public accomadations! This is INCREDIBLE for our town to join the 60 other municipalities in Pennsylvania for such an ordinance to help protect LGBTQ individuals since there is currently no State or Federal Law that does so fully in those issues. WONDERFUL NEWS! Thank you all who supported the year long process to get this passed.

2021 became a larger outdoor fest with vendors, bands, drag shows, and more on Lincoln Square!

2022!!!
With major support from almost every single small business in downtown Gettysburg, 2022 was our biggest fest yet, which included a block party with food trucks, health support and religious support resources, live entertainment, educational Pride Chats and more.

While Gettysburg Pride is ALWAYS the weekend after Memorial Day Monday, we want everyone to know that June is also National Pride Month every year so feel free to fly those rainbows any time, after all, even the last two Mayors of Gettysburg made a Proclamation that June is Gettysburg Pride MONTH!

YOU are ALL family to us and we are beyond excited to continue to develop Gettysburg Pride welcome to EVERYONE that is respectful and loving of one another!

You are beautiful. You are loved. You are important.
